Every quote recommends the thing that vendor sells
Three suppliers produce three different answers, each internally consistent and each pointing at their own product. Nothing in the pile tells you which problem you actually have.
IT Consulting
IT consulting for Sydney businesses: an independent read on what to invest in, what to retire and what can safely wait another year.
The Problem
Rarely because nobody has an opinion. Usually because every available opinion belongs to someone with something to sell.
Three suppliers produce three different answers, each internally consistent and each pointing at their own product. Nothing in the pile tells you which problem you actually have.
Licences renew, subscriptions accumulate and hardware is replaced one item at a time, so the total is spread across enough invoices that no single one looks unreasonable.
Without a clear picture of what happens if you do nothing, doing nothing always looks like the cheaper option — right up until the thing that was deferred fails.
Our Solution
We start with what you actually have: what is running, what it costs, what is supported and what is holding the rest together. That inventory is usually the first time it has all been written down in one place.
From there we set out what we would prioritise and why, in the order we would do it. Where the honest answer is that something can wait another year, that is what the document says — a recommendation that never says "leave it alone" is a sales sequence with a report cover on it.
You keep the document either way. If you would rather hand it to whoever currently looks after your IT and act on it without us, that is a legitimate outcome and we will not chase you about it.

Engagements are scoped to the question in front of you rather than sold as a fixed package.
A documented picture of the current environment — systems, licences, hardware and where each one sits in its life.
What to address now, what to plan for and what can wait, with the reasoning written down so it can be reviewed later.
What the coming year is likely to cost across licences, renewals and replacement, so technology can be budgeted rather than absorbed.
Where the environment would fail, what that would stop, and how long recovery would realistically take.
An independent read of a proposal you have been given — what it covers, what it leaves out and whether it solves the problem you have.
What a second site, a merger, a system migration or a significant intake of staff would require before it happens rather than during.
How We Deliver
The same six stages every time, so you always know what happens next.
We document what you actually have — devices, licences, access, and where the risks sit. Nothing is proposed before this is done.
We agree what changes, in what order, and when. Anything that will interrupt your team is scheduled around your working week.
Work is done in stages so your business keeps operating. You know what is happening on any given day before it happens.
Configurations, credentials and procedures are written down and kept current — so support does not depend on one person's memory, including ours.
Systems are watched continuously rather than checked when something is reported. Most issues are picked up before anyone raises them.
We review what is working at agreed intervals and adjust. Technology that suited you last year may not suit you at twice the headcount.
Business Outcomes
The reasoning is written down, so the recommendation can be explained to a board, a partner or a funder without reconstructing it from memory.
Licences, renewals and subscriptions collected into one figure, which is usually the point at which the duplicates become obvious.
A sequence rather than a list, so the thing that unblocks the others is done first instead of whatever was raised most recently.
Replacements and renewals are known in advance, so they arrive as planned items rather than as an unbudgeted urgent purchase.
Who It Is For
The proposal is detailed, confident and entirely unverifiable from where you sit. You want to know whether it addresses your actual problem before you sign it.
A second location, a significant intake of staff, a system migration or a funding round with reporting attached. You would rather find the gaps now than during.
Nothing has failed, but nobody has independently looked at it either. An outside read either confirms it or shows you where to push.
Subscriptions accumulated one at a time and nobody has added them up. You want the total, and an opinion on what is still earning its place.
Typical Engagements
Situations we are called into most often. One of these will probably sound familiar.
One decision to make and a deadline to make it by. Scoped to that question, answered in writing, finished.
Everything documented and assessed, ending in a prioritised roadmap. The usual starting point where nothing has been written down before.
Scheduled reviews with your leadership team, so decisions are made against a current picture rather than a document written some time ago.
Technology
Platforms we work with day to day. If something you rely on is not listed, ask — this is not an exhaustive list.

Industries
We deliver IT work as a subcontractor on government-funded engagements, working to the documentation and security standards those contracts require.
Staff and student systems, shared devices and filtered access, managed around term dates rather than against them.
Clinical systems, practice software and patient data handled with the privacy obligations of the sector built in.
Works With
These are the services clients most often run alongside this one, and why.
We take ownership of your technology day to day, so problems get dealt with before they reach your team.
Layered protection across devices, email and identity, aligned to the ACSC Essential Eight.
Move the workloads that belong in the cloud and leave the rest alone. We will tell you which is which.
FAQ
No. The recommendation is yours to act on however you like, including with your existing provider or an internal team. We would rather be the people whose advice held up than the people who made it conditional.
Scoped and quoted before the work starts, based on the size of the environment and the question being answered. You will know the figure before anything begins. The initial health check that establishes whether consulting is even the right thing is free.
Only where that is the honest answer, which it usually is not. Most environments have a few things that genuinely need attention and a good deal that is working and should be left alone. The report says which is which.
Yes. We will tell you what it covers, what it does not, and whether it addresses the problem you described to them. We will also say where it looks reasonable, because a review that finds fault with everything is not a review.
Yes, and it is often the better arrangement. They know the business and its history, which is exactly the context an outside reviewer lacks. Our part is the time to document the environment properly and an opinion with no internal politics attached to it. We would normally interview them early rather than review around them.
The free IT health check establishes what you have, what it costs and where the risks sit. You get the findings in writing, with no obligation, and consulting work is only quoted if you decide you want it.
