FAQ
No. Those are sync services, and sync is not backup — if a file is deleted or encrypted on one device, that change is faithfully copied everywhere else. They are useful, but they solve availability rather than recoverability, and businesses regularly discover the difference at the worst moment.
On a schedule agreed in your service agreement, and always after a significant change to your environment. The results are documented, so you have evidence of when a restore was last proven rather than a general assurance that testing happens.
That depends on what failed and how the environment is designed, which is exactly why we agree recovery objectives with you upfront rather than quoting a generic figure. Once tested, you have a real number based on restores actually performed for your systems.
That is the failure mode we design against specifically. Backups are held so they cannot be reached and altered from a compromised machine, and offsite copies mean a single compromised environment does not take everything. It is the difference between a bad week and a business-ending event.
Usually yes. Cloud providers protect their own infrastructure and offer limited retention, but they do not indefinitely preserve content your business deleted or an attacker encrypted. If your obligations run longer than the vendor default, that gap is yours to cover.
